SUMMARY:SCU Business Leaders Network Dinner
DESCRIPTION:Southwestern Christian University is proud to welcome former Oklahoma Governor David Hall as the university continues its Business Leaders Network series on Thursday\, February 19.\n\n\n\nBLN is open to Business Leaders in the community and advanced registration is required at www.swcu.edu/bln. The event on February 19th will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the North Dorm Conference Center on the Bethany campus.\n\nHall last visited the campus when it was known as Oklahoma City Southwestern College in the early 1970's. He served as Governor of the State of Oklahoma from 1970 through 1974. During his time\, Hall championed education reforms including increasing per-pupil education spending\, increasing teachers' salaries\, and working to decrease the teacher-student ratio in public school classrooms. His proposal to lower the mandatory school age and require kindergarten attendance was a bold and groundbreaking move at the time.\n\n\n\nHall lost his bid for re-election in 1974 and later became entangled in a federal racketeering case in which a number of people claim that he was unfairly targeted. The case against Hall led to his personal and political downfall and was ongoing during the tumultuous era of the Watergate firestorm.\n\n\n\nHall is expected to share never-before told stories about his career including his personal struggles and how through his faith and the grace of God he was able to overcome all odds to win the battle that matters the most. Tinged by anger and bitterness\, Hall has been able to free himself of the pain through forgiveness so that he could begin receiving the many blessings that his Lord Jesus Christ had waiting for him.
